Fisher, Osmond, Reverend. * 1817 in Osmington, Dorset England, † 1914 in Huntingdon England. Nach der Schulzeit trat er 1835 in das Jesus College in Cambridge ein. 1846 wurde er Mitglied und 1853 Tutor an diesem College. Seine erste Stelle bekam er 1858 als Vikar in Elmstead. 1887 wurde er Rektor in Harlton bei Cambridge. Bereits 1852 war er in die Geol. Society eingetreten und 1879 wurde er Ehrenmitglied des Kings College in London. Fisher war mit bei den ersten Wissenschaftlern, die die Mathematik in die Geologie einbrachten. Er untersuchte die Formationen von Dorsetshire, East-Agrlia und der Isle of Wight. Trotz seines Buches "Physics of the Earth's Crust" und zahlreicher Zeit schriftenartikel blieb Osmond Fisher recht unbekannt.
